Position Overview

The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for Lifelong's volunteer program, overseeing volunteer recruitment, engagement, scheduling, communications, recognition, and retention. This role builds meaningful relationships with volunteers while partnering closely with Food and Nutrition leadership to ensure volunteer resources effectively support program operations.

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in delivering an exceptional volunteer experience that advances Lifelong's mission. Success in this position requires excellent customer service, outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

This regular, full-time, non-exempt, union role is based in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, with onsite presence required 08:30AM – 5PM Monday - Friday.

Qualifications Essential Duties Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
  • Develop and implement community outreach and recruitment strategies to achieve annual volunteer engagement goals.
  • Recruit, onboard, orient, schedule, and retain individual and group volunteers.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for volunteers, providing timely communication, support, and recognition throughout the volunteer lifecycle.
  • Foster meaningful volunteer engagement by helping volunteers understand the impact of their service on Lifelong's mission.
  • Coordinate volunteer training, appreciation activities, surveys, and ongoing communications.
  • Maintain a visible and welcoming presence for volunteers at Lifelong's Georgetown Food and Nutrition facility.
  • Partner with Food and Nutrition managers to address volunteer performance concerns, including coaching, corrective action, and volunteer dismissal when appropriate.
Program Coordination
  • Collaborate with Food and Nutrition Department managers to align volunteer scheduling with operational and program needs.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships across departments to support a positive and productive volunteer experience.
  • Execute responsibilities in accordance with organizational priorities and established procedures.
Program Administration
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, program data, and prospect information in the Volgistics database.
  • Coordinate and maintain volunteer schedules and organizational calendars for community and corporate volunteer activities.
  • Produce reports and complete timely data entry to support program evaluation and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational documentation, confidentiality, and data collection standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
