Serve America's heroes with your medical expertise! Our team is excited to announce we are now accepting applications for a full‑time, swing shift Licensed Practical Nurse 4 at the Spokane Veterans Home in Spokane, Washington.

Homes 24/7 facility differential: Updated as of July 1, 2025:
This position is eligible for Supplement Basic Shift Premium for 24/7 Facilities. Employees who are assigned to a facility that provides direct care to residents, patients, and/or clients and whose duties are required to be performed on location will receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. This shift premium does not apply to overtime hours.

The supplemental basic shift premium shall expire on June 29, 2027.

* This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

Please note: The work schedule will be Sunday through Thursday for one shift, and Wednesday through Sunday for another shift, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

Hybrid/Telework: This position is not eligible for telework.

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse 4, you will provide resident‑centered care and ensure that our Veterans at the Spokane Veterans Home in Spokane are provided a safe and healthy space, treated with dignity and respect, and have care suited to their personal needs. You will also assist and monitor assigned residents with activities of daily living based on current nursing standards of practice and with a heart for our mission.

Some of what you'll be doing includes:
  • Charge nurse for the assigned area.
  • May act as back‑up supervisor in absence of RN.
  • Updates and maintains MDS documentation.
  • Assist residents with positioning, transferring, and ambulation.
  • Monitor and keep a safe environment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently holds a valid LPN license from the State of Washington.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Must be proficient in the English language and be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to perform data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to provide a positive living environment for residents relating to meeting psychosocial needs; follow written and verbal directions; document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.

  • Must be able to earn trust, respect and confidence of residents, coworkers and customers through consistent honesty, forthrightness and professionalism in all interactions. Serve as an effective and positive role model to staff.
  • Long‑term care experience.
Special requirements:
  • Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks.
