Department Overview- Labor and Delivery: 30 labor beds
- OB ED: 9 beds total
- OB ORs: 4 operating rooms
- Births:
Approximately 550‑600 per month - Deliveries:
Starting from 22‑23 weeks gestation - NICU:
Level 4 with 77 beds - Teams: MFM team, Midwifery, OB, Family Medicine
- Programs:
Addiction Recovery program for pregnant/laboring patients and postpartum couplets, Doula and Cultural Navigators - 24/7 Services:
Anesthesia, Laborist, and Neonatology - 5 EAST Main L&D Unit: 6 bed OB ED, 14 labor rooms, 2 ORs, Charge RN, and Laborist
- 5 South:
Scheduled C‑sections, overflow labor, occasional Antepartum or Postpartum overflow, Charge RN - Accountable for ensuring patient care 24 hours a day, coordinating delivery of care, and enforcing professional standards.
- Establishes patient care standards, implements unit‑based quality improvement programs, and monitors compliance.
- Assures patient, family satisfaction through rounds and intervention.
- Advocates for patients, addresses ethical and legal issues, and supports cultural practices.
- Tracks staff retention rates and implements actions to reduce turnover.
- Maintains clinical competence by assisting with patient care and coaching staff.
- Collaborates with nurse educators to develop educational programs for all staff levels.
- Responds to step‑two grievances.
Job Requirements
We are looking for an individual who is engaged, personable, and focused on collaboration within the L&D leadership team and the Women & Children (W&C) leadership team. The ideal candidate will share responsibility for quality, finance, staffing, and the patient and caregiver experience. This role reports directly to the L&D Manager and collaborates with the senior manager, manager, and clinical supervisor.
TopPriorities and Goals
- Continue culture work on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts.
- Emphasize quality metrics, including NTSV, and collaborate with the RN team for sustained improvement.
- Partner with the CNS, Perinatal Educator, and team on evidence‑based practice changes.
- Interview and hire experienced staff RNs, travelers, and candidates for the residency/fellowship program for L&D.
- Bachelor's Degree in BSN from an accredited nursing school, or ADN with a commitment to obtain BSN within two years of hire.
- Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire.
- National Provider BLS – American Heart Association upon hire.
- At least 3 years of recent experience in a related clinical nursing area.
- Must meet the criteria of a Registered Nurse.
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
- At least 1 year of first‑line management experience.
