Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and prior travel contract experience.
Responsibilities- 13-week travel contract
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Acute care float pool covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
- Shifts may be split into an 8-hour block in one area and a 4-hour block in another, requiring strong time management skills
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Patient population includes Ortho, Neuro/Stroke, and Cardiac Telemetry cases, as well as post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, ortho trauma, and total joint replacement
- High volume of peripheral nerve catheters on ortho floors
- Floating within the hospital is required to meet facility needs
- Every other weekend required; travelers are expected to be flexible with scheduling
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling is not available
- Epic EMR used; experience preferred but not required
- Solid color scrubs accepted; light blue scrubs provided on unit
- Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma academic teaching hospital with approximately 500 staffed beds
- Trauma Level II experience required;
Level I experience preferred - Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Prior UW Health system staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
- RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should otherwise be kept to a minimum
- RN orientation is offered twice per month; pre-start modules take approximately 5–6 hours and must be completed before the start date
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- The facility prefers not to place travel pairs together on the same unit
- Active WA state RN license or compact RN license required (pending license not accepted)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma hospital required
- At least one prior travel contract required; first-time travelers are not eligible
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required; a pass/fail telemetry test will be administered at orientation
- Strong ortho and neuro skills required
- Insulin drip titration required
- COVID vaccination and booster required
- Two references required, with at least one supervisory or charge nurse reference
- Date of birth required for consideration
