Overview

UW Medical Center - Montlake has a leadership opportunity in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for an Assistant Nurse Manager. This recruitment offers a $10,000 Recruitment Incentive for eligible positions and eligible new employees joining UW Medicine. The ANM works under general direction by the Nurse Manager to prioritize, delegate, and provide safe, therapeutic allocation of nursing resources to patients. The ANM makes independent judgments and acts on a wide range of routine and complex staffing and unit workflow issues.

NICU Highlights
  • Our NICU cares for premature and critically ill newborn infants, born at UWMC or transported from outlying hospitals.

  • You will be caring for multiple births and micro preemies—babies born as early as 22 weeks gestation.

  • As part of UW Medicine, the NICU has access to advanced neonatal research.

  • Our team has contributed to reducing risk of brain damage and lung problems in premature babies across the nation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead clinical practice, education, and management as delegated by and in collaboration with the nurse manager.

  • Perform charge nurse duties.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for patient care and staff competency.

  • Facilitate education, supervision, mentorship, and evaluation of staff.

  • Provide feedback to staff regarding clinical, interpersonal, and communication performance.

  • Promote delivery of quality nursing care.

  • Assist with ongoing unit daily operations.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Participate in hospital-wide committees.

Schedule
  • 90%, Night shift (36 hrs/week).

Requirements
  • Have/obtain a WA RN license to practice or MSL.

  • Graduated from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • Two or more years of level III or IV NICU nursing experience.

  • Charge nurse experience.

Compensation, Benefits and Details

Pay Range Minimum: $ annual

Pay Range Maximum: $ annual

Other Compensation: $10,000 Sign on bonus/ Relocation available; BSN or higher premium $1.00/hour;
Certification premium $1.25/hour;
Night shift differential $5.00/hour;
Weekend shift differential $4.00/hour;
Sunday Night premium $3.00/hour;
Overtime pay
