Description

The University of Washington Medical Center, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is looking for a full-time Teaching Associate/Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP or PA‑C) for the Division of Gynecologic Oncology.

UW Medicine is the premier academic medical center in Washington state, encompassing four hospitals in the Seattle metro area and serving as the primary referral hospital for the five‑state WWAMI region. The department supports a residency program, four fellowship programs (including Gynecologic Oncology), and is a major teaching site for UW medical students.

This is a full‑time, 12‑month (July 1 – June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12‑month service period and may be reappointed to subsequent terms. Faculty with 12‑month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12‑month period, meaning an equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be: $10,417 – $13,750 per month ($125,004 – $165,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Position Responsibilities

An ARNP/PA‑C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to Gynecology Oncology patients at the University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake. The ARNP/PA‑C would follow patients during chemotherapy and radiation, providing medical supportive care, postoperative care, and surveillance after completion of treatment. The ARNP/PA‑C would work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients.

All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under supervision of an attending physician.

  • Skilled clinicians, providing evidence‑based diagnosis and management of the acute, symptomatic, and palliative care needs of patients with cancer.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information about disease processes, treatments, and management of treatment toxicities to patients and family caregivers.
Scope of Work
  • Independently performs complex and problem‑focused H & P’s
  • Understands the biology and natural history of common cancers; provides patient education about the natural history and available treatment options.
  • Evaluates and manages patients on cancer treatment.
  • Provides patient care for treatment‑related side effects, long‑term surveillance and survivorship issues.
  • Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice.
  • Collaborates and consults with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, timely treatment and continuity of care.
  • Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research.
  • Communicates changes in patient’s health status to the patient’s primary oncologist.
  • Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees.
  • Continuously develops and maintains patient management algorithms and standing orders.
  • Documents patient care data in Epic in accordance with UWP policies.
  • Evaluates the physical and psychological state of the cancer patient; provides support through teaching, counseling, rehabilitation, and referrals to community agencies.
  • Teaches and mentors new ARNP or PA‑C staff, PA or NP students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
