This position, based in Ingraham High School, will provide direct clinical care to the teens in that school. Obtain health history through client/family interview and chart review. Assess presenting illness and risk factors, family health history, review of systems, psychosocial and developmental histories, and cultural information. Perform appropriate physical examination and assessment. Order and/or perform diagnostic and screening tests and collect additional data for evaluation of illness or wellness.
Develop differential diagnoses and identify risks. Provide managed client care by developing and implementing individualized treatment plans: prescribe and dispense medication; consult with physicians when indicated; provide appropriate referrals and ensure education, counseling, and case‑management follow‑up with other professionals and community agencies.
- Provides education on a variety of health topics to student groups in a classroom setting in collaboration with school staff.
- Works with other school‑based health clinic (SBHC) staff to promote the services of the SBHC on campus, including the lunchroom and student assemblies.
- Maintains and audits SBHC pharmacy inventory per Public Health Seattle‑King County protocols.
- Performs point‑of‑care labs, collects and packages specimens for off‑site lab testing, and maintains lab documentation per PHSKC protocols.
- Orders, maintains, and administers vaccines and assesses presenting illness and risk factors, family health history, review of systems, psychosocial/developmental histories, and cultural information.
- Performs appropriate physical examinations and assessments.
- Orders and/or performs diagnostic and screening tests and collects additional data for evaluation of illness or wellness.
- Documents clinical care in the electronic health record (EPIC).
- Ensures quality of professional practice by practicing within professional, legal, and ethical standards and by participating in continuing education, peer review, chart review, developing practice guidelines, and community work.
- Acts as consultant to the health‑care team, other staff, and the community, including advocating for patients.
- Performs pelvic exams; uses microscopy skills to diagnose STDs; prescribes and manages contraceptive methods including LARCs, emergency contraception; assesses pregnancy gestation, provides counseling and referrals for all pregnancy options, including carrying, adopting, and termination.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Washington State license as a Registered Nurse (in good standing) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing science or a graduate‑level nursing degree (MSN, DNP, or PhD) from an accredited school of nursing.
- License to practice in the State of Washington as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Washington State license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (in good standing) with prescriptive authority.
- Completion of advanced practitioner training and board certification as a nurse practitioner within the specialty practice.
- National Provider Identification (NPI) number required prior to credentialing.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration required prior to credentialing.
- Documentation of current BLS CPR certification with AED training required prior to credentialing.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a care team and with a diverse, multicultural patient panel.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license or ability to travel to site.

This is a fully benefited, 0.8 FTE with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The position provides full coverage for the school year and will conclude based on the academic calendar (school breaks and summer break). This position is subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime pay. May work outside the typical schedule to support operational needs.
