Job Description

UW Medical Center-Northwest - Freestanding Infusion has an outstanding opportunity for a Per Diem Registered Nurse. The Per Diem Registered Nurse will support two infusion sites, both located in North Seattle

WORK SCHEDULE

* Per diem schedule / variable hours per week

* Must be available to work 10 hour day shifts (7:30am-6:00pm)

* Must be available to pick up shifts Monday-Friday and on weekends

* Must be available to work at two sites - UW Medical Center-Northwest and our Outpatient Medical Center (both in North Seattle)

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Our ambulatory Freestanding Infusion Centers treat a broad range of conditions with chimeric monoclonal antibodies, anti-inflammatory tumor necrosis factor inhibiting agents, and other auto-immune biologics. Registered Nurses are responsible for administering outpatient infusion therapy.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Screens patients for infusions of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors and therapeutic treatments

* Administers medications, steroids, chemotherapy, and blood products

* Performs venipuncture and accesses implanted ports

* Places IVs and observes patients during infusions

* Disconnects IVs and monitors patients post-infusion

* Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides pump usage instructions to patients and caregivers

* Cleans pumps after each use and documents proper pump usage

* Calculates medication dosages for patients under the guidance and consultation of the patient's physician

* Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste

REQUIREMENTS

* 2 years of recent infusion therapy nursing experience

* Strong IV placement and phlebotomy skills

* Advanced knowledge in IV therapy, IV administration, and peripheral IV or midline maintenance

* Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State

* Active BLS

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$45.59 hourly

Pay Range Maximum:

$83.64 hourly

Other Compensation:

BSN (or higher) premium - $1.00/hour
Certification premium - $1.25/hour
Weekend premium - $4.00/hour
Overtime pay
