Job Description
UW Medical Center‑Northwest — Freestanding Infusion has an outstanding opportunity for a Per Diem Registered Nurse
. The Per Diem Registered Nurse will support two infusion sites, both located in North Seattle.
- Per diem schedule / variable hours per week
- Must be available to work 10 hour day shifts (7:30am-6:00pm)
- Must be available to pick up shifts Monday‑Friday and on weekends
- Must be available to work at two sites – UW Medical Center‑Northwest and our Outpatient Medical Center (both in North Seattle)
Our ambulatory Freestanding Infusion Center treats a broad range of conditions with chimeric monoclonal antibodies, anti‑inflammatory tumor necrosis factor inhibiting agents, and other auto‑immune biologics. Registered Nurses are responsible for administering outpatient infusion therapy.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Screens patients for infusions of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors and therapeutic treatments
- Administers medications, steroids, chemotherapy, and blood products
- Performs venipuncture and accesses implanted ports
- Places IVs and observes patients during infusions
- Disconnects IVs and monitors patients post‑infusion
- Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides pump usage instructions to patients and caregivers
- Cleans pumps after each use and documents proper pump usage
- Calculates medication dosages for patients under the guidance and consultation of the patient’s physician
- Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste
- 2 years of recent infusion therapy nursing experience
- Strong IV placement and phlebotomy skills
- Advanced knowledge in IV therapy, IV administration, and peripheral IV or midline maintenance
- Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
- Active BLS
Pay Range Minimum: $45.59 hourly
Pay Range Maximum: $83.64 hourly
Other Compensation: BSN (or higher) premium – $1.00/hour, Certification premium – $1.25/hour, Weekend premium – $4.00/hour, Overtime pay
