Overview
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute–designated cancer center in Washington and operates eight clinical care sites offering comprehensive oncology services.
Responsibilities- Works as part of an interdisciplinary team on the inpatient wards at UWMC, covering 12-hour rotating shifts for seven days a week.
- Performs complex and problem-focused histories and physical examinations, rounds daily with the team and attending physician.
- Evaluates and manages all aspects of care for medical oncology and hematology inpatients.
- Performs procedures (e.g., bone marrow aspirate, lumbar puncture) in accordance with licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice.
- Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services.
- Communicates changes and transitions from inpatient to outpatient care, and alerts the primary oncology team of urgent patient issues.
- Participates in patient rounds, conferences, and committees.
- Actively engages in clinical aspects of research trials.
- Documents patient care data in accordance with Fred Hutch and UWP policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Strong team player with a can‑do attitude; demonstrates ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Washington state and DEA licensure required.
- ACLS certification required within six months of start date.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- One year of experience as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in hematology, oncology, or inpatient settings preferred.
Annual base salary range: $131,000 to $201,456, depending on experience and qualifications.
Relocation assistance may be available.
