Description
Serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary care team and acts as a central point of contact for referring providers, patients, and caregivers for those newly diagnosed with breast cancer. The Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator provides comprehensive coordination of care from diagnosis to the start of treatment, offering guidance, advocacy, and support throughout the patient’s journey. This role delivers clinical expertise, education, and emotional support to patients and their families and connects them with appropriate resources and services.
The navigator collaborates closely with providers to ensure seamless communication, timely referrals, and effective care planning during the initial phase after diagnosis.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing, or equivalent education and experience
- Washington Registered Nurse License, obtained upon hire
- National Provider BLS – American Heart Association certification, obtained upon hire
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in oncology, breast care, and health‑care delivery (education and experience may substitute as required)
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or comparable breast certification, obtained upon hire
