Pediatric Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist
Seattle Children’s is seeking an energetic, dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our inpatient Cancer and Blood Disorders team. In this limited-term role, you will provide direct care and assume primary clinical management for high-acuity pediatric oncology and hematology patients within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.

Key ResponsibilitiesAs a vital member of our inpatient care team, your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
Clinical Management & Direct Care- Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform detailed physical examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
- Develop, implement, and manage complex treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and safely order chemotherapy regimens.
- Perform specialized clinical procedures, including lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirates and biopsies, skin biopsies.
- Partner closely with department attending physicians, fellows, residents, social workers, pharmacists, dietitians, and various sub-specialists.
- Coordinate comprehensive care plans, including procedure planning, discharge planning, and active participation in multidisciplinary care conferences.
- Act as a resource and educator for patients, families, and fellow healthcare team members.
- Contribute to ongoing organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects.
- Participate in departmental education and research efforts to advance pediatric hematology/oncology care.
- Previous experience in pediatric hematology, oncology, or high-acuity inpatient care is strongly preferred.
- Strong procedural aptitude or prior experience with lumbar punctures and bone marrow biopsies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate within a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
- A resilient, empathetic approach to patient and family-centered care.
Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
Required CredentialsFor Nurse Practitioners:
- Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.
- Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner.
For Physician Assistants:
- Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington.
- Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
For All Providers:
- Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS.
- Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.
- Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children’s Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.
- Two years experience in advanced practice provider role.
- Two years experience in pediatric health care.
$137,321 - $201,961 per year.
Note:
This position is currently eligible for an off‑shift premium of up to 7.5% which would increase the total compensation of this role by an additional $10,299 to $15,147 per year.
This compensation range was calculated based on full‑time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
