Northwest Eyes, a progressive ophthalmic medical and surgical practice, is searching for a Registered Nurse to join our Northgate ASC team. Full‑time

• Preoperative and postoperative patient calls
• Patient admission and discharge
• Record and analyze patient medical histories, symptoms, and conditions
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician
• Maintain intraoperative circulation
• Assist with conscious sedation (see “Nurse Sedation” section)
• Act as designated Infection Control Specialist (see “Infection Control” section)
• Create patient care plans with other healthcare professionals
• Discuss treatment plans with physicians and pharmacists
• Educate patients and families about treatment
• Maintain knowledge of instruments and operating room set‑up
• Maintain knowledge of asepsis, instrument processing, and sterilization
• Research literature and developments in nursing related to the operating room
• Complete required continuing education
• Follow compliance policies (HIPAA, OSHA, WISHA, patient confidentiality, insurance requirements)
• Follow policies of Northwest Eye Surgeons
• Oversee work of medical assistants and surgical technicians

• Recommend completion of a conscious sedation certification course or equivalent training.
• Complete initial Nursing Sedation competency; repeat at least annually.
• Maintain knowledge of the facility's policies for anesthesia services and nursing sedation.
• Administer medications for conscious sedation as ordered by the physician.
• Monitor patient vital signs in the operating room.

• Maintain infection control program using established protocols.
• Identify infection risks and areas of concern using risk assessment tools.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of unforeseen events and postoperative infections.
• Oversee ongoing infection control training for employees of the designated area.
• Review, assess, and report outcomes of infection prevention and control activities, training, and audits.
• Assist with annual development of the infection control plan.
• Report deficiencies to the Infection Preventionist and QAPI/Governing Board.
• Maintain required continuing education.

• Preferred: current or prior conscious sedation experience.
• Knowledge of sterile technique as it applies to the operating room.
• Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures to anticipate surgeon needs and patient positioning.
• Proficient in handling instruments, tissue specimens, cultures, and smears before, during, and after use.
• Ability to anticipate operating team needs.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Initiative and ability to work independently or lead teams in a fast‑paced environment.

• Graduate of a college, university, or accredited nursing school.
• Current license from the State Board of Nursing to practice as a registered nurse.
• Current ACLS/AED certification – mandatory.
• One (1) year of operating room and ASC experience preferred.
