Job Description
Harborview Medical Center – Neuro Critical Care has an outstanding opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider – Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
Work Schedule- 90% FTE
- Variable shifts
- Shifts include Days, Nights (50/50) and Weekends, Holidays
- No call.
The APP will work under the supervision of the NCCS attending staff that includes Anesthesia, Neurology, and Pulmonary/Critical Care Physicians.
Department DescriptionNeuro Critical Care at Harborview Medical Center takes care of a patient population that includes Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, Intracranial Hemorrhage, Acute Ischemic Stroke, Seizure and Status Epilepticus, Isolated Traumatic Brain Injuries, Neuromuscular disorders, Brain Tumors, CNS infections, hypoxemic-ischemic encephalopathy, Spinal Cord Injury, and post-operative spine patients.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Perform patient care to include admitting new patients, participating in daily patient rounds, daily care evaluation and management of ICU patients, writing daily progress notes and formulating/implementing plans.
- Collaborate with acute care services (ortho spine, neurosurgery, and neurology services) to daily sign out patients leaving the unit.
- Use ICU Checklist on morning rounds to complete the daily checklist for each patient to ensure proper care and communication with nursing staff.
- Facilitate family meetings and participate in goal of care discussions as appropriate.
- Perform procedures including Central Venous Catheters, Arterial Lines, Bronchoscopy, Lumbar Punctures, Point of Care Ultrasound.
- Quality Improvement and Research including QI meetings and ongoing QI projects.
- If ARNP:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges. - National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC or AGACNP-BC preferred).
- FNPs with at least 5 years of APP critical care experience will also be considered.
- If PA-C:
Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington with certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA). - ACLS certification.
- Must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medical Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions.
