Overview
UW Medical Center–Northwest has a leadership opportunity for a Nurse Manager to join our Pre‑Op and Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within Surgical Services. The role partners with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care across the perioperative continuum. The Nurse Manager has 24‑hour accountability for clinical operations, patient care delivery, staff management, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and patient experience.
This position oversees pre‑anesthesia patient preparation and post‑anesthesia Phase I and II recovery, ensuring effective patient flow, safe transitions of care, and adherence to evidence‑based standards.
- Full‑time days Mon‑Fri
Include but are not limited to:
- Recruiting and hiring
- Supervision and planning
- Implementation of programs to meet specific patient care needs
- Focus on continuous improvement of the quality of patient care
- Planning and management of the unit’s budget
The Nurse Manager will have direct oversight of more than 45 employees, including:
- Three Assistant Nurse Managers
- Clinical Nurse Educator
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license (or ability to obtain)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience, with three (3) years of acute care clinical experience in surgical services
- Previous leadership experience (Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or equivalent)
- Will be required to obtain and maintain ACLS certification
