Overview
As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team.
May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e., Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, Workforce Community and Connection etc.
- Provide safe, family centered patient care using the Nursing Care Process (assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating) in collaboration with patients, families, and health care team.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code.
- Contribute to Seattle Children’s strategic goals by applying CPI, value-based behaviors, error prevention, patient safety, and workforce community initiatives in daily practice.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments.
- Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license required to work in the RN’s practice state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions at time of hire unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area. BLS must be maintained until the appropriate Life Support Education is obtained.
- PEARS or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute. Employees are responsible for costs relating to obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if not a position requirement.
- RNs in specified areas must obtain PALS within defined time frames (e.g., within 3 months or 6 months of employment) and maintain it thereafter, as applicable to the department.
- For moderately complex point-of-care testing, a copy of diploma or transcript is on record with Human Resources on hire; foreign-trained personnel must provide equivalency evaluation by a foreign credentialing agency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Pediatric health care nursing experience.
- Compensation Range: $51.60 - $91.30 per hour

This range is based on full-time employment (2080 hours per year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided. - Disclaimer for Out of State Applicants:
