American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and the ability to circulate and provide full newborn care.
Details- High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms and an average daily census of 15 patients and 500–600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, Adult Recovery Services clients supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
- Unit features 4 ORs and operates in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Medications managed include Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Electronic fetal monitoring is used;
Epic EMR experience is required - Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to Postpartum and Antepartum units, as well as sister facilities that include Mother/Baby
- Active WA RN license or valid compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum of 3 years of L&D experience required; 5 years of high-risk L&D experience strongly preferred
- High-acuity, fast-paced L&D environment experience required
- Must be able to circulate in the OR — no exceptions
- Must be proficient in newborn care, including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K (IM) injections, and newborn assessments — no exceptions
- Epic EMR experience required
- A minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty are required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Current NRP and BLS certifications must be provided for consideration
- RN functions in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continues newborn care until transfer to Postpartum
- Must pass a clinical review prior to placement
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Holiday coverage is required as needed
- Pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis; minimal RTO is expected
- Former permanent employees of any non-Swedish Providence facility must have been separated for at least 3 months before being eligible; former Swedish facility employees are not eligible
- Former permanent employees must not reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible to return as a traveler
- Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
