Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III/IV NICU night shift position requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and an active WA or compact RN license.

Details
  • Level III and Level IV NICU setting with a 77-bed unit (average census of 50)
  • Neonatal patient population including premature infants from 23–24 weeks gestation
  • Patient ratio is 1:2
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Block scheduling is available for those who prefer working 3 or more consecutive shifts
  • Travelers are not typically responsible for admissions, as the unit has a dedicated Admit Nurse
  • Floating between campuses and facilities within the state is expected; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
  • Rare float to a Step-Down Nursery (SCN) at other campuses or Pediatrics/Newborn Nursery (NBN); if floated to Peds, travelers are assigned infant patients only
  • Procedures and equipment include: CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency ventilators, oscillators, conventional vents, blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
  • Responsibilities include attending high-risk deliveries and supporting neonatal surgeries
  • Epic EMR — experience required
Requirements
  • Active WA state or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required; at least 3 years at a Level III NICU or 2 years at a Level IV NICU
  • Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP) required
  • Experience with neonatal patient populations including premature infants (< 24–34+ weeks gestation) required
  • Skills required:

    IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, central line/implanted line care, feeding management (bottle, breast, gavage), placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, neonatal dosage calculations, emergency medications, and therapeutic hypothermia
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Former permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months before being eligible, and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, registry, or per diem) including location and dates
  • Minimal RTO is strongly preferred for this position
  • Scrubs and dress code per facility standards
