American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet teaching hospital in Washington, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience and prior travel experience.
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or Compact RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and EKG Compliance Exam; NIHSS required; TNCC preferred
- Minimum 3 years of critical care experience; candidates with 2+ years may be considered with strong trauma ICU background
- Neuro ICU experience required, plus experience in at least one additional ICU specialty (MICU, Trauma ICU, Burn ICU, or CVICU)
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Academic/teaching hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required - this is a hard stop requirement
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required; a telemetry test will be administered
- ICU experience within the last year required
- Epic EMR experience required
- COVID vaccination and booster required - no exceptions
- Two supervisory references required (must be from a direct supervisor, not a charge RN)
Responsibilities
- 26-week contract with night shifts (3x12, 19:00-07:30)
- Float position covering all critical care units within the hospital
- Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 500 staffed beds
- Neuro ICU experience required, plus at least one additional ICU specialty (MICU, Trauma ICU, Burn ICU, or CVICU)
- Patient population includes neurological, trauma, surgical, cardiovascular, and burn ICU cases
- Required skills include ventilator management, IV therapy, telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, and procedural/conscious sedation
- Preferred skills include ICP monitoring and PA Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting system:
Epic (required) - Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Responsibilities include ventilator management, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, and neurological monitoring including EVD and ICP
- Experience with CVA/stroke management, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, hypothermia protocols, and post-neurosurgery care is relevant to this role
- Scrubs: any solid color accepted; light blue scrubs provided on unit
- Non-billable orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approximately 6-8 hours for RN); WA suicide prevention training may add an additional 6 hours if applicable
- RTO must be submitted prior to consideration; additional RTO will not be granted after an offer is made, and RTO cannot be accommodated during the first 2 weeks
- Holiday coverage requires working 2 of 3 designated holidays (eve and day of count as one holiday set)
- Prior UW Health system staff must have an 18-month separation from the facility before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
