Description:
Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. The unit sees high acuity patients, including those with oncology, cardiology, and transplant histories. There is a small pediatric population and a fair number of psych/behavioral health patients. The patient population may include complex medical cases, including transplant and VAD patients. The emergency department is staffed to accommodate vertical care areas. The unit has 27 rooms and the ability to flex into hallway beds.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. The emergency department experiences a daily census of 60-100 patients. Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. General patient ratios are maintained at 1:4 for both days and nights. Candidates must be comfortable floating within the hospital. Charting is completed using an electronic health record system.
Additional experience in managing various patient treatments and procedures is preferred.
