American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 3-5 years of high-risk, high-acuity L&D experience and current WA or compact RN license.
Details- Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms and beds
- Unit averages 15 patients daily with 500-600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
- 4 operating rooms available for cesarean deliveries
- Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
- Float required to Postpartum and Antepartum units, including sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
- Uses electronic fetal monitoring equipment
- Epic EMR experience required
- Patient ratio of 1:1-2
- Active RN license (WA state or compact) in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- 2 years of experience required in high acuity, high-pace environment
- High-risk L&D experience strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must function in the Baby Nurse role during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Must be able to circulate for C-sections
- Must provide newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
- Current Nursys certification required for clinical review
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Must pass clinical review for consideration
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and managing hemorrhage/shock situations
- Administer medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and newborn resuscitation
- Provide postpartum care including couplet care, breastfeeding support, and management of postpartum complications
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Radius rule requires candidates to live 50 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility
- May be required to float between sister facilities within the health system
