American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown Neuro unit position requiring 2 years of experience and telemetry proficiency at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.
Details- Stepdown Neuro unit within a Magnet, teaching, Level 1 Trauma hospital
- Patient population includes Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Epilepsy cases such as TBI, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, spinal cord injury, stroke, seizure, and change in mental status
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00-19:30
- Every other weekend required with scheduling flexibility
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within scope required, with travelers prioritized to float first
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS
- Must pass a telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation and management competency exam
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel experience preferred; first-time travelers considered only with strong neuro experience
- Required skills:
IV start, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care and management - Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Provide nursing care to neurosurgical, neurological, and epilepsy patients including those with TBI, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and stroke
- Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
- Blue scrub color required
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Holiday coverage required: may request 1 of 3 major holidays off but must work 2 holidays (eve/day)
- RTO limited to no more than 6 days, with no RTO permitted during the first 2 weeks or orientation week
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- Prior UW/Harborview staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers considered only if they have strong neuro experience
