Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a day shift position requiring BLS and PALS certifications along with pre-op and PACU floating capability.

Details
  • Works in the PACU unit providing pre-op care for both inpatients and outpatients and Phase II recovery through discharge home
  • Handles a variety of surgical cases including general surgery (lap chole, appy, bowel resection), vascular procedures, plastics, mandibular surgery, eye procedures, GYN, dental, thoracic (no open hearts), and podiatry (no ortho)
  • Occasionally provides pre-op care for cath lab (vascular procedures only) and endoscopy patients
  • Approximately 3-4% pediatric patient population, though travelers are not assigned to peds
  • Day shift schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM
  • Float required between Pre-Op and PACU
  • May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
Requirements
  • Active WA state or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS and PALS
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Experience with blood product administration and central line care/management
  • Familiarity with medications including IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
  • Experience with various anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, and spinal
  • Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, and RASS
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required
  • Must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities as permanent employee, travel contractor, or registry/per-diem staff
Additional Information
  • Provides perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including ENT, general surgery, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, and vascular
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays:
    Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-submittal RTO requests may not be accommodated
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility for local rate consideration
  • Former permanent Providence employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
