American Traveler is hiring an experienced EP Lab RN with 2+ years of cardiac electrophysiology experience for a role requiring specialized ablation and device implant skills at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact license
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- ARRT-R advanced certification plus WA state radiology tech license, or CCI RCIS certification plus WA state Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification
- Minimum 2 years of EP lab experience with proven ability to scrub devices and ablations
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills required include room circulating, maintaining sterile field while scrubbing, EP studies, arrhythmia induction, cardiac ablation, cardioversion, conduction studies, AICD insertion/programming, pacemaker insertion, and temporary pacing wire management
- Preferred skills include baseline measurements, LAA closure, IABP placement/removal, and Impella insertion
- Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Work in the EP Lab of a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Care for patients undergoing coronary device implants (pacemakers/ICDs), diagnostic EP studies, and ablation procedures
- Procedures include pacemaker, ICD (including SQ), loop recorder, and Micra pacemaker insertion, plus lead extractions with surgical support
- Ablation procedures include VT (including epicardial), PVC, AFib, Aflutter, and other atrial ablations using transeptal approach
- Utilizes Biosense Webster CARTO and Abbott Precision mapping/ablation systems, with Cryo used for select AFib ablations
- Additional equipment includes Biotronik temp pacemaker box, Siemens X300 ICE machine, laser, Impella, IABP, PA lines (Swans), Alaris IV pump, and Hemochron ACT machine
- Monitoring performed via GE Cardio Lab system
- Uses Epic for charting
- Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a variable day off
- No weekend requirements
- No on-call requirements, though staff may opt into a voluntary late-stay to complete an ongoing procedure
- Floating required within the hospital, but not to sister facilities
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Responsibilities include accurate monitoring, room circulating, and scrubbing to maintain sterile field during EP procedures
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- RTO limited to a maximum of 1 week, with no time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Prior UW staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Scrubs are provided for OR personnel; any scrub color permitted
