American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown Neuro RN for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of neuro/telemetry experience and current NIHSS certification.
Details- Stepdown Neuro unit within a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Patient population includes neurosurgery, neurology, and epilepsy cases such as TBI, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, spinal cord injury, stroke, and seizure disorders
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
- Every other weekend required with scheduling flexibility
- Floating required within scope, with travelers prioritized to float first
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic charting system
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required, verified by competency test
- Strong neuro nursing experience required for consideration of first-time travelers
- IV start, telemetry, and tracheostomy care skills required
- Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Provide care for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions requiring telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Perform tracheostomy care and management as needed
- Blue scrub color required
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Holiday coverage required, with 1 of 3 major holidays off and 2 holidays worked (eve/day)
- RTO limited to no more than 6 days and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- Prior UW/Harborview staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers considered only if they have strong neuro experience
