Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery

Seattle, WA | Acute Care

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)

• Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
• Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum — hard stop requirement; must be able to perform this role
• Circulate in the OR — hard stop requirement; must be able to perform this role
• Perform newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections (thighs), and newborn assessments
• Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate; utilize electronic fetal monitoring
• Float to postpartum and antepartum as needed; may float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care

• Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
• High-risk L&D experience required
• Ability to circulate in the OR and provide newborn care (hard stop requirements — see Key Responsibilities)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• Proficiency with EPIC and electronic fetal monitoring required
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) and every other weekend
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a traveler; local candidates are welcome and accepted

• ACLS certification preferred
• AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• Experience in high-acuity, fast-paced Labor & Delivery environments with familiarity of AWHONN staffing guidelines
• First-time travelers are accepted

• Work in a high-volume unit averaging 500–600 deliveries per month across a 31-bed facility with 4 operating rooms, offering broad clinical exposure across all types of L&D cases
• Staffing practices follow AWHONN guidelines, reflecting a commitment to quality patient care and professional nursing standards
