Schedule / Job TypeContract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30)
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
- Circulate in the OR — required for this role; unit operates 4 ORs
- Function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continuous newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K (thighs), and newborn assessments until transfer to postpartum — required for this role
- Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Utilize EPIC and perform electronic fetal monitoring — both are hard-stop requirements
- Float as needed to Postpartum and Antepartum, and potentially to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
- Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- High-risk L&D experience required
- Ability to circulate in the OR — hard-stop requirement
- Ability to function as Baby Nurse and perform newborn care (eyes, Vit K, assessments) — hard-stop requirement
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a traveler; local candidates are welcome and considered at the same rate
- Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays:
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day - All time-off requests must be submitted upfront at the time of submittal; post-offer RTO requests may not be considered
- 2 references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required prior to start
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
- Experience in fast-paced, high-acuity Labor and Delivery environments
- Familiarity with AWHONN staffing guidelines and standards of care
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Join a high-volume unit with an average of 500–600 deliveries per month, offering significant clinical exposure across all types of Labor and Delivery cases
- Work in a structured environment with schedules posted every 6 weeks and staffing guided by AWHONN guidelines
