Schedule / Job TypeContract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
- Circulate in the OR — required for this role; unit includes 4 operating rooms
- Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery, continuing care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum, including eyes, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
- Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Utilize EPIC and perform electronic fetal monitoring in accordance with AWHONN staffing guidelines
- Float to Postpartum and Antepartum units, and potentially to sister facilities that support Mother/Baby care, as needed
- Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- BLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience with high-risk exposure
- Ability to circulate in the OR and provide full newborn care — both are hard-stop requirements
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) and work every other weekend as needed
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a travel candidate; local candidates are also accepted
- ACLS certification
- AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate certification
- Experience in high-acuity, fast-paced Labor & Delivery environments with high delivery volume
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records and electronic fetal monitoring systems
- Work in a dynamic, high-volume unit averaging 500–600 deliveries per month with a diverse and complex patient population
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, and care is delivered in alignment with AWHONN guidelines in a well-structured unit environment
