Position Overview

Part‑Time Veterinarian – Predictable hours and a consistent home hospital assignment. Join our team at Aurora Veterinary Hospital, a busy 3‑doctor practice with a strong local reputation. We provide a modern clinic, fully equipped with ultrasound, digital radiology, dental suite, and in‑house labs. Located in North Seattle, near Fremont, Ballard, and Maple Leaf.

Aurora Veterinary Hospital is AAHA and Fear Free certified. We trust our staff with autonomy while providing national support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups.
  • Client communication and education.
  • Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Pharmacy duties, including prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols.
  • Promote teamwork and staff efficiency.
  • Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations.
  • Evaluate and monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge.
  • Monitor cases and attend daily rounds to uphold high standards.
  • Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Veterinary degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university.
  • Current State Veterinary License.
  • DEA registration (must be obtained and maintained).
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice.
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Excellent surgical and dental skills.
  • Team‑oriented work ethic.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care.
  • Effective communication with medical staff and clients.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, efficiently, and timely.
  • Confidence and reassurance when handling stressed, ill, or painful pets.
  • Physical ability: may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; lifting up to 50 lb.
  • Physically capable of moderately demanding work.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Comprehensive clinical skills in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological, and other examinations; ability to diagnose and prescribe appropriate treatment.
  • Problem‑solving to address operational challenges.
  • Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff.
  • Professionalism – giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Business acumen – understanding practice management and finances.
  • Ethical decision‑making guided by patient‑care principles.
  • Commitment to continuing education and knowledge sharing.

Pay Range

$120,000 — $160,000 USD (full‑time equivalent; part‑time salary prorated).
