Licensed Veterinary Technician – Northgate Veterinary Clinic
Pet Vet Care Centers. The Northgate Veterinary Clinic in Seattle, Washington currently seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to support hospital operations by providing dedicated, high‑quality veterinary care and exceptional client service.
Position OverviewAs an LVT, you will determine animal needs, conduct examinations and diagnostics, assist during surgery and procedural work, provide nursing care, manage supplies and equipment, oversee triage and discharge, maintain patient medical records, and communicate with clients.
Key Responsibilities- Determine animal requirements through examination, interview, and record review, and perform laboratory tests and imaging.
- Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, vaccines, and bandaging wounds.
- Support patient examinations and operations by assembling supplies, restraining patients, and aiding the veterinarian.
- Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment, and drug administration.
- Obtain and verify medications.
- Ensure patients receive food and water, keep rooms and cages clean, and monitor clinical signs.
- Fill prescriptions and administer medications in a documented, controlled‑drug compliant manner.
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and humane environment via sterilization, sanitizing, storing sterile supplies, verifying shelf life, and following legal regulations.
- Record patient conditions, reactions, and changes accurately in the database.
- Communicate patient status to owners as directed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and care for equipment, and coordinate repairs.
- Monitor inventory, place orders, verify receipts, and maintain records.
- Participate in continuing education and read professional journals.
- Release patients to owners, ensuring each animal is clean and groomed.
- Conduct tasks per oral and written directions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or practice.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
- High school diploma or GED.
- One or more years of veterinary appointment, surgical, or nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
- Equivalency in education, certification or experience may be considered.
