One of our clients is seeking a Concrete Lab Technician responsible for performing laboratory testing with accuracy and precision under the direction of the Lab Supervisor. This role involves conducting a wide range of concrete and aggregate tests, supporting quality assurance programs, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
What You’ll Accomplish- Perform testing of cement, fly ash, and other cementitious materials used in concrete
- Conduct concrete and aggregate testing including compressive strength, air content, slump, set time, unit weight, yield, gradation, specific gravity, absorption, and wash loss
- Follow and apply relevant ASTM, ACI, DOT, and AASHTO testing procedures
- Ensure accurate data collection, documentation, and timely reporting
- Support monthly cement consistency programs and competitive testing initiatives
- Assist with testing investigations requested by Sales and Marketing
- Maintain, calibrate, and perform routine repairs on laboratory equipment
- Maintain organized filing and reporting systems
- Run trial mixes to support customer value initiatives
- Evaluate customer materials for compliance with industry specifications
- Promote and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies
Education:
- High School Diploma (required)
- Technical training or certifications in construction materials testing (preferred)
- Preferred field of study:
Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related discipline
- Industry exposure in concrete and materials testing following ASTM, ACI, DOT, or AASHTO standards
- ACI Certifications in Field Testing, Strength Testing, and Lab Technician Level One
Skills:
- Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures
- Basic equipment maintenance knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow detailed procedures consistently
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to learn new test procedures and adapt to evolving lab practices
- Ability to adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards
- Estimated wage range: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
