Overview
SRM is seeking a Leasing Agent to support the day-to-day operations of a 207-unit affordable housing community. This role is responsible for managing leasing activities, delivering exceptional customer service, and assisting with administrative and compliance functions. Working closely with the Property Manager and site team, the Leasing Agent helps maintain strong occupancy, supports resident satisfaction, and ensures regulatory compliance. This position is a key front-facing role, creating a welcoming and professional experience for both prospective and current residents.
Scheduled hours for this position are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Leasing & Marketing
- Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and current residents, providing professional and friendly front-desk, phone, and email support.
- Conduct apartment tours and provide accurate information on community features, pricing, and availability.
- Respond to leasing inquiries promptly and follow up with prospects to support leasing and occupancy goals.
- Assist with maintaining marketing materials, online listings, and community postings.
- Application & Compliance Processing
- Assist applicants throughout the leasing process, ensuring applications and required documentation are completed accurately and timely.
- Process rental applications, screenings, and verifications including income, employment, and rental history.
- Support compliance with affordable housing programs (e.g., LIHTC, Section 8, HUD) by assisting with eligibility documentation and file organization.
- Maintain resident and applicant files in property management systems in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Resident Relations & Retention
- Provide customer service support to residents by responding to questions, concerns, and service requests.
- Assist with lease renewals, notices, and resident communications.
- Support resident events and engagement initiatives that promote community satisfaction and retention.
- Administrative & Operational Support
- Prepare and process lease agreements, addendums, notices, and related documentation.
- Assist with rent collection, receipting, and basic reporting as directed.
- Maintain organized digital and physical files, reports, and office records.
- Provide general administrative support to the Property Manager and site team, including scheduling, correspondence, and daily office coverage.
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in customer service, leasing, administrative support, or a related role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain accurate records.
- Basic understanding of leasing processes and Fair Housing requirements.
- Experience using office technology and software, including property management systems (e.g., Yardi or similar) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work collaboratively with on-site teams and follow established procedures.
- Experience in multifamily housing, property management, or real estate.
- Exposure to affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, Section 8, or HUD.
- College coursework in Business, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as NALP (National Apartment Leasing Professional) or CAM (Certified Apartment Manager).
- Interest in career growth within property management (e.g., Property Administrator, Assistant Property Manager).
This is primarily an office-based role that involves frequent sitting and computer use. The Leasing Agent will also spend time standing, walking, and touring apartment homes and community grounds, and must be able to climb stairs and navigate the property with residents and prospects. Occasional lifting of office or marketing materials up to 25 pounds may be required.
