The Division of Hematology and Oncology has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Project Manager (RPM) in the Johnsen Laboratory investigating the fundamental mechanisms responsible for variation bleeding, clotting, and blood cells through both basic research studies and clinical/translational research.
The Johnsen Laboratory Research Program takes multiple technical approaches including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, mutational scanning, translational research, and performs clinical research in the relevant populations with bleeding disorders. This position is primarily responsible for the planning, development and execution of the Genetics of von Willebrand Disease in the U.S. Study (VUS Study) and Hemophilia A Research Program (VUS and HARP). This position will contribute to the workplan development, implementation and compliance for these projects.
The Research Project Manager will work in an inclusive and highly collaborative environment on studies of the impact of genetic variation in hemostasis and clinical/translational research projects and contribute to lab management and organization.
The Johnsen Laboratory Research Program is dedicated to improving clinical testing, diagnosis and care of patients with blood disorders through the translation of new knowledge and laboratory innovations. The Research Project Manager will be an integral member of the team and will work independently under supervision of the PI and senior laboratory personnel. This position will provide supervision and mentorship for the program's Research Coordinators.
The University of Washington's Division of Hematology & Oncology includes 130+ faculty members located at the UW Medical Center, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Over the past 40 years, members of the Division have made substantial contributions to many other areas of cancer treatment, including the use of tumor vaccines, cellular therapy for cancer, antibody-based treatments, and novel forms of chemotherapy and hormonal therapy.

The Research Project Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of a portfolio of complex projects across institutions and nationally. This position will oversee all aspects of the projects including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring status, as well as preparing materials and reports for management. This position requires a strong knowledge of clinical trials and project management methodology, flexibility in a rapidly changing environment, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
This position requires independent judgment, leadership, and expert knowledge of the academic laboratory operations to effectively facilitate the workflow and promote a collaborative work environment. The position will maintain dynamic communication with the study investigators, research staff, numerous UW departments, federal agencies, and industry partners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Planning & Execution (40%)
* Oversee the intake and implementation of complex projects at the interface of science and administration.
* Lead cross-functional teams, create timelines, and track action items.
* Work collaboratively with the VUS and HARP data coordinating center in defining specifications and ongoing refinement of electronic data collection systems and processes.
* Identify critical path activities and coordinate with responsible parties to ensure deliverables are achieved.
* Select appropriate project management tools to achieve strategic goals and lead project teams in evaluating progress.
* Perform project after-action reviews to identify areas for process improvement.
2. Grant and Fiscal Management (25%)
This position will be responsible for the full financial portfolio of the Johnsen lab.
* Responsible for all pre-award duties and submissions
* Create SAGE budget, eGC1, ASRs, MODs, assuring adherence to UW and sponsor policies
* Assist PI with budget pricing and preparation.
* Work with sub sites to obtain budgets and necessary documentation for submission.
* Submit sub award requests in SAGE, manage sub award invoice approvals, payments, reporting requirements, and other sub requests
