The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch)/University of Washington (UW)/Seattle Children's Cancer Consortium (Consortium) is a research collaboration comprising Fred Hutch and its strong collaborators, the UW and Seattle Children's. The Consortium is recognized as a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center through its dedication to developing research programs, faculty, and facilities that will lead to better approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.

The Office of Community Outreach & Engagement (OCOE) is an integral component of the Consortium. It is housed at Fred Hutch in Seattle with field offices in Sunnyside and Spokane. The mission of the OCOE is to reduce cancer health inequities throughout the cancer care and research continuum by promoting relevant collaborative research and programs. The OCOE uses a qualitative and quantitative data-driven approach to identify our region's greatest needs and strategic research aims to address those needs, which are prioritized and implemented in partnership with our regional Community Action Boards and our Internal Advisory Council of leaders and faculty from throughout the Consortium.

The OCOE is seeking a Research Coordinator reduce cancer health disparities by using bidirectional, community-engaged approaches in outreach, programming, and research. The Research Coordinator will coordinate research and administrative tasks in support of the OCOE's scientific objectives.

The Research Coordinator supports OCOE initiated research projects and the Recruitment and Retention Shared Resource (R&RSR). The R&RSR is a developing shared resource available to all Consortium research teams to request support with recruitment and retention of underrepresented populations in research. The person in this position will coordinate the day-to-day activities associated with research project start up, including database development, Institutional Review Board applications, and data collection.

In addition, this role provides administrative support to the R&RSR, through tracking requests, scheduling meetings, and tracking timelines and deliverables.

Responsibilities

Scope of Responsibilities:

The Research Coordinator will work independently to complete daily responsibilities, referring research program/project issues to the Program Administrator for Research Operations, as necessary. The Research Coordinator's primary responsibility is to support OCOE research projects at every stage of the research continuum. This includes supporting research start up and implementation plans, monitoring progress, communicating effectively with the OCOE team when roadblocks exist, proposing solutions, and conducting daily operational tasks to ensure that the overall project goals and deliverables are met.

Excellent communication skills across audiences, exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to produce high-quality work within a collaborative team are critical to this position. The Research Coordinator will perform some or all the job duties listed below.
