Position Details

A full-time postdoctoral position is available on an annual 12-month appointment in the Yang Lab in the Center for Stem Cell Genomics at the University of Washington. The lab focuses on generating and utilizing pluripotent stem cell and primate models to dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms of embryogenesis and investigate reproductive complications, including infertility and miscarriage. The candidate will carry out the research work under the supervision of Assistant Professor Min Yang within the Center for Reproductive Sciences at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated a high degree of motivation, professionalism, experimental acumen, organizational skills, teamwork, and a thirst for knowledge and scientific progress. Experience with animal work is desired but not required.

The job responsibility includes designing, conducting, and evaluating experiments, contributing to the group through innovation and collaboration, presenting and publishing research findings, and participating in Departmental and extramural scholarly activities. Candidates with a strong track record of scientific excellence and outstanding communication and technical skills are preferred.

Experimental/Lab duties include:

  • Cell culture work – organoid generation and 2D/3D cell culture
  • Microscopy – immunofluorescence and confocal imaging
  • Molecular bench work — basic molecular skills are required (molecular cloning, genome editing, etc.)
  • Data analysis – basic skills in bioinformatics or genomic data analysis are required
  • Contributing to laboratory organization and maintenance
  • Presentations of data in lab meetings and external meetings
  • Preparation of written scholarly reports/publications

The successful applicant for this position will be encouraged and guided to apply for various funding opportunities.

The base salary range for this position will be: $5,705 per month - $6,667 per month ($68,460 annually - $80,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Postdoctoral scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website.

Qualifications

Ph.D. or foreign equivalent degree relevant to biological sciences required. Candidates with a degree in Reproductive, Developmental, Stem cell or Molecular Biology are strongly encouraged to apply. The ability to work independently and as part of a research team is required.
