About the Role
Provide high‑quality and timely processing of pathological specimens through gross examinations, necropsies, tissue trimming, and tissue processing in accordance with company protocols and SOPs.
What You'll Do- Train and become fluent on core SOPs, including necropsy, organ weighing, bone marrow smear preparation, tissue trimming, heat sealing, archiving, and quality‑check review.
- Use an Electronic Data Capture System (EDCS) for case documentation.
- Participate in protocol reviews, pre‑necropsy meetings, and departmental meetings.
- Complete study set‑up and maintain necropsy suites, including other pathology lab areas.
- Maintain instruments, equipment, and facility records (fridge/freezer and wet‑room storage records, equipment use logs).
- Assist with chemical management by maintaining stock and working solutions, as well as waste management.
- Order and stock supplies and accessories.
- Perform specialized necropsies and tissue‑trimming procedures as required by protocols.
- Receive training to become a Lead Study Technician (LST) and review protocols for correctness.
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) preferred; associate degree or equivalent experience acceptable.
- 6 months to 1 year of biological science or laboratory‑related work if the B.S./B.A. requirement is not met.
- Working knowledge of anatomic biology.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Advanced math skills applicable to scientific data.
- Basic bench chemistry skills.
- Aptitude for pathology and histology techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Participation in company on‑call policy and continual GLP training.
Hourly range: $22.00 – $35.00 (salary varies based on experience, skills, and location).
