Histotechnologist

The primary role of a Histotechnologist is to conduct complex medical laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze laboratory findings to ensure the accuracy of the results.
  • Examine samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction.
  • Monitor clinical trials for research organizations or internal research purposes.
  • Cultivate, isolate, and identify microbial organisms, performing various tests on these microorganisms.
  • Conduct clinical trials of pharmaceuticals.
  • Enter data from medical tests and clinical results into computer systems for storage.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis, including spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, and computer-controlled analyzers.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in histology, embedding, and microtomy.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in embedding and microtomy.
  • An Associate's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related life science field.
  • HT Certification and ASCP Certification.
  • Knowledge in pathology, immunohistochemistry, LIS, stat testing, grossing, tissue processing, sectioning, H&E, and special staining techniques.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Skilled in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic understanding of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
  • Basic knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and local regulations.
  • Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
Work Environment

This position is based in a state-of-the-art CAP-certified pathology laboratory.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tukwila, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.55 - $31.55/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
