- Routine analysis of vector samples for quality attributes in support of process development studies using biophysical techniques and cell-based assays. Includes culturing primary cells, staining, and flow cytometry.
- Perform hands-on experimental work in the development and optimization of upstream (cell culture and transfection conditions) and downstream (clarification, tangential flow filtration, chromatography) unit operations for viral vector production
- Design, plan, execute, and analyze lab experiments.
- Manage inventory of samples and materials and ensure proper handling and storage
- Maintain proper documentation of experimental results using an electronic lab notebook
- Summarize and present scientific data; report results to project teams
- Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with policies/procedures/regulations
M.S. or B.S. in Biological or Chemical Engineering, Virology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline
Qualifications- 0-2 (MS) or 2+ (BS) years of hands-on experience with analytical techniques and instrumentation for proteins, cells, and/or viral vectors
- Excellent aseptic technique and experience with mammalian and/or primary cell culture
- Experience with flow cytometry instrumentation, maintenance, and software (Flow Jo)
- Experience in upstream and/or downstream bioprocess development
- Uses scientific principles and engineering fundamentals to solve problems
- Independently motivated with ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and coordinate activities within a team
- Desire and drive to learn the biological mechanism of cell and gene therapy products and passion for their impact on the lives of patients with serious diseases
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely through oral presentation and technical writing
