The core focus of the Hsieh Lab is to interrogate the mechanisms by which post-transcriptional gene regulation governs cancer cell behavior at a molecular, cellular, and organismal level. The laboratory places a high emphasis on novel discoveries and academic development. New projects focused on tumor heterogeneity, somatic mosaicism, and mRNA-specific translation are currently underway and funded by multiple new NIH grants.
ResponsibilitiesFor this position, the applicant will utilize murine and human genetics, whole transcriptome ribosome profiling, MSR-seq, functional genomics, RNA labeling/sequencing techniques, TMT mass spectrometry, various cellular and molecular assays, and a one-of-a-kind biorepository of primary and metastatic human prostate and bladder cancer samples to understand how the translation apparatus controls normal physiology and promotes cancer phenotypes including tumor heterogeneity and metastasis.
The candidate will also be responsible for grant writing in collaboration with Dr. Hsieh.
