The Gern laboratory in the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research (CGIDR) at Seattle Children's is seeking a motivated Undergraduate Researcher to help facilitate the day-to-day operation of the lab and assist lab members with experiments.

This is a unique position that requires significant initiative and motivation to learn and understand both existing and emerging scientific methods and knowledge. The successful applicant will be integrated into ongoing research projects and will design, execute, interpret, and present results on experiments. As the Undergraduate Researcher gains experience, they will be given the opportunity and responsibility to conduct mentored research related to the laboratory's overall mission.

Enthusiasm, curiosity, and initiative to learn new methods, collaborate, and perform work efficiently and carefully are essential. Training in unfamiliar techniques will be provided. The Undergraduate Researcher will spend the majority of their time contributing to ongoing laboratory projects, requiring the ability to exercise independent judgment to address tasks and projects, and will identify and refine existing procedures and practices. They will also participate in managing a small rodent colony.

The successful candidate will join a supportive, dynamic group in a collaborative environment at the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research and within the greater Seattle research community.
