Job Description

The Department of Health Systems and Population Health (HSPop) currently has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Scientist/Engineer 2 to join the Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) team.
Key ResponsibilitiesResearch design (5%)
- Lead and/or collaborate with the Project Lead and/or Principal Investigator (PI) in the design of performance monitoring and evaluation plans, including methodology selection, tool creation, and refinement. These activities will relate to recruitment, intervention delivery, and measurement of milestones and outcomes.
Analysis (25%)
- Lead and/or collaborate in the design and execution of performance monitoring and outcome data collection activities (including qualitative methods such as interviews, observation)
- Lead and /or assist data cleaning and management activities
- Create, organize, and maintain all data files to support analysis, including documentation of methods and decisions
- Lead and/or collaborate in data analysis (qualitative, quantitative) throughout the span of the projects (includes interim, annual, and final reporting)
- Lead and/or collaborate in the systematic and routine generation of results, interpretation, and recommendations based on findings
Project implementation (25%)
- Adapt study materials for appropriate project populations and facilitate material dissemination
- Provide and facilitate provision of technical assistance to regional program administrators and clinic teams to support use of evidence-based practices to improve cancer screening
- Monitor use of participant engagement with TREE LMS learning modules, assessing engagement for support needs from research participants and address or triage needs as they arise
- Recruit project partners (e.g. advisory members) or participants to meet project objectives and milestones
- Maintain and strengthen key partnerships with longstanding program partners (WA DOH); develop and nurture collaboration with new partners or program staff as they arise.
- Convene and maintain strong communication with each project’s advisory committee (clinical and community) and steering committee
- Facilitate synergy across projects as appropriate (e.g. if cancer screening health clinics are participating in HPRC’s chronic disease project, identifying opportunities to minimize redundancies across projects).
Project planning & management (15%)
- Manage all aspects of delegated projects necessary to accomplish projects and deliverables, including sponsor reporting, acquiring, updating, and maintaining IRB approvals for multiple projects
- Develop and manage relevant project timelines; communicate work necessary to support deliverables
- Oversee delegated budgets (overall or budget components, depending on project) to monitor expenditures and spend rates.
Dissemination of results (15%)
- Independently contribute to and/or assist with the design, creation, drafting, editing, and dissemination of project-specific products (e.g., journal articles, meeting summaries, reviews, and progress reports)
- Present findings at relevant internal and community- or professional/academic-facing venues, e.g. program meetings, conferences, learning collaboratives.
Project administration (10%)
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors
- Oversee acquisition and distribution of cash incentives and materials for study participants
Grant proposal development (5%)
- Working collaboratively with PI(s) and Project Lead to support the development of new grant proposals, including the planning of grant submissions, refinement of research design, preparation…
