The Nest is one of the city’s most iconic rooftop bars, nestled atop the Thompson Seattle hotel. It offers unmatched panoramic views of Elliot Bay and the Olympic Mountains. To complement its show‑stopping vista, The Nest offers an unforgettable experience with tantalizing bites and refreshing libations made with seasonal ingredients highlighting the Pacific Northwest. It also offers experiences beyond those of your standard downtown bars from intimate tastings to DJ's spinning vinyl under the stars and everything in between.

Seasonal Employment Period

The seasonal employment period for positions at Thompson Seattle is anticipated to commence in mid‑May and conclude at the end of September. Exact dates may vary depending on business needs. To be considered for these roles, candidates must maintain open availability for the entire season.

Job Fair
  • 3/29: 2:00pm – 6:00pm 2nd floor meeting space
  • 3/30: 9:00pm – 1:00pm at the Nest
Responsibilities

The Seasonal Bartenders are responsible for providing libations and offering customized recommendations. The right person should be familiar with the latest in mixology, bar equipment, and sanitation standards, with a focus on maintaining an attractive bar. This position offers opportunity for casual conversation, creativity and allows for building on ones style and previous bartending experiences. Preferred candidates will have understanding of state and local serving guidelines.

Qualifications
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
  • Refined verbal communication skills.
  • Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight.
  • Mast Certification Required
  • Previous bartending experience at a luxury location

Paid Time Off

Thompson Seattle colleagues begin accruing Vacation Time on their first day of service. At six months of service, colleagues are vested in the time they have been accruing. Full Time & Part Time Colleagues are eligible for vacation time. Hire Date Through Four Years – 10 Days or 80 hours. Five to Nine Years – 15 Days or 120 hours. Ten years or greater – 20 Days or 160 hours.

Sick

Leave

Full time, part time and on-call colleagues accrue and have the right to utilize sick and safe time according to Seattle’s Paid Sick and Safe Time Ordinance. As a Tier Three employer all colleagues accrue one (1) hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked starting on their hire date, however, these colleagues cannot use their accrued sick time until they have completed 90‑days of employment with Hyatt.

Extended

Illness Days

Unused sick and safe time in excess of 72 hours converted to Extended Illness Days at the end of each calendar year.

Holiday Pay

Full‑time colleagues are eligible for holiday pay on their first day of employment. The paid holidays for eligible colleagues recognized by our hotel are:
New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and 2 pre‑approved days for Floating Holidays.

Wage Information

Pay ranges are listed on each job posting individually. This position receives service charge and additional gratuity per the guest’s discretion.

  • Hourly role:
    The hourly rate for this position starts at $18.00. A taxable 20% service charge is added to each check. 17% of the service charge will be distributed to service personnel. 3% is retained by the hotel as an administrative fee. Added gratuity is up to the guest's discretion and will be 100% retained by the colleague.
