About the Role

At Coast Hotels, our Ambassadors are at the heart of every guest experience. The Bartender plays a key role in creating a welcoming, memorable, and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests by delivering exceptional service, preparing quality beverages, and maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant bar operation.

This position is responsible for providing professional, friendly service while ensuring all beverages are prepared and served in accordance with Coast Hotels standards, liquor regulations, and food safety requirements. The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys connecting with people, and takes pride in creating positive experiences for every guest.

What You’ll Do Guest Experience & Service Excellence
  • Deliver exceptional guest service by creating a welcoming and engaging bar experience.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with established recipes, presentation standards, and responsible beverage service practices.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of beverage menus, food offerings, promotions, and local attractions.
  • Make recommendations and upsell food and beverage offerings to enhance the guest experience.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently while ensuring timely service.
  • Respond to guest inquiries, concerns, and special requests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Check on guest satisfaction throughout service and take appropriate action to resolve concerns.
Operational Excellence
  • Complete opening, shift-change, and closing duties accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar, lounge, and service areas.
  • Stock and replenish liquor, wine, beer, glassware, garnishes, and operating supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Ensure all products are stored, handled, and served according to food safety and liquor regulations.
  • Follow established cash handling, room charge, and payment processing procedures.
  • Accurately balance receipts, charges, and cash at the end of each shift.
Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all applicable liquor service regulations, hotel policies, and food safety standards.
  • Promote a safe environment for guests, Ambassadors, and visitors.
  • Follow Coast Hotels health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe working conditions promptly.
  • Support emergency and security procedures as required.
Team & Culture
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude in all interactions.
  • Support fellow Ambassadors and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Represent Coast Hotels’ brand values through warm, friendly, and authentic service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Serving It Right certification (or provincial equivalent).
  • Minimum one year of bartending, restaurant, lounge, or hospitality experience.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bartender Emerit Certification or similar industry credential.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Experience using Squirrel POS or similar point-of-sale systems.
  • Cash handling and balancing experience.
  • Knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and cocktail preparation.
  • Previous hotel or hospitality experience.
