Job Summary

The Material Resources team ensures youth in foster care have access to the essential items they need to be prepared for school and life. As part of the Store team, the Store Retail Coordinator serves as a mission-driven, equity-centered staff member who contributes regularly to advance the organization’s commitment to anti-racism, social justice, and belonging. The Store Coordinator helps oversee daily operations in Treehouse’s free retail space and statewide online order fulfillment.

The Store Retail Coordinator works directly with Treehouse staff, donors, volunteers, and clients to help ensure the needs of the youth we serve are met, aligning programmatic and operational goals through a culturally responsive and inclusive approach with acknowledgement of the trauma experienced by youth in care. The Store Retail Coordinator seeks to help dismantle systemic inequities, promote psychological safety, engage in equitable practices across systems, and contribute to an organizational culture rooted in dignity, accountability, and care in service of the youth that Treehouse supports.

Creative, detail-oriented, and personable, the Store Retail Coordinator plans proactively for seasonal demand, helps train and oversee volunteers, and coordinates both the online and in-person shopping experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Individual Functions
  • Greet clients in an inclusive and welcoming manner, check program eligibility, and accurately document shopping visits into the client management system.
  • Provide shopping guidelines, answer questions, and clearly communicate the schedule and limits as needed to clients and those who accompany them.
  • Train and work with volunteers to ensure daily activities are completed, such as stocking, merchandising, and online order fulfillment.
  • Monitor the Store’s physical and emotional environment to help ensure that clients have a safe, positive, and respectful shopping experience, inclusive of all racial and gender identities, and with awareness of the trauma experienced by youth in care and historically marginalized communities.
  • Embrace transformation by seeking out perspectives across the organization and with partner organizations and communities to evolve how Treehouse serves youth with curiosity and openness to new ideas.
  • Maintain the presentation of the Store, including merchandising displays, seasonal inventory rotation, and updated signage. Identify and communicate daily priorities to volunteers.
  • Coordinate the donation, handling, and distribution of tickets in an equitable manner to local events and attractions that are available to Treehouse clients as part of Treehouse’s retail operations.
  • Maintain the easily accessible online ordering form for clients to request items via mail or pick-up.
  • Ensure timely processing and delivery of all online orders.
  • Lead the online order fulfillment process from start to finish, including tracking the status, providing updates, overseeing inventory pulls, troubleshooting orders, and implementing process improvements.
Team Functions
  • Provide excellent customer service to caregivers and youth accessing Store services, including incorporating de-escalation, conflict resolution, culturally-sensitive, and compassionate support to those who have experienced trauma or may be experiencing crisis.
