Produce Lead

Overview

The Produce Lead assists in overseeing the produce department and staff, including productivity, inventory, signage, and budgeting. They provide and model excellent, professional customer service and assist the Produce Coordinator in ordering, receiving, and merchandising produce.

• Provide and model excellent, professional customer service
• Assist in overseeing produce department operations
• Assist the Produce Coordinator in writing orders and handling other produce department tasks
• Participate in department planning with the Produce Coordinator regarding budgeting, product mix, and scheduling
• Gain thorough knowledge of all produce items
• Provide direction, supervision, and mentorship to produce staff
• Build and maintain produce displays and rotate produce in back stock and sales floor
• Receive produce orders, arrange credits from vendors, and process invoices
• Update price changes and signage
• Ensure department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met
• Operate all equipment in accordance with PCC standards

• Proven ability to perform excellent, professional customer service
• Must have excellent leadership, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
• Must have demonstrated order writing skills
• Schedule writing experience preferred
• Available to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
• Previous retail experience desired and background in produce preferred
• Use of basic knife skills required
• Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and lifting 10–40 lbs regularly
• A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
• If hired into this role, a Certified Food Protection Manager certification (for example Serv Safe) is required (paid for by PCC)
• If hired into this role, a CPR/First Aid Certification is required (paid for by PCC)

• Additional $1.25/hour Night Differential when applicable.

Starting Wage: $30.15/hour.
