Position Description The Cafe Team Leader works as a member of the Olympia Coffee Retail Team. The Cafe Team Leader is supervised by the Retail Director and Assistant Retail Director and works in close collaboration with the Retail Trainer and supervises a team of Baristas in operation of the cafe. The Cafe Team Leader is responsible for managing their cafe’s operational and financial success.

General Responsibilities
* Ensuring the store is providing consistently excellent products and service, and that the environment is inviting, clean, and well stocked.
* Building a well-developed and high performing team that works together collaboratively and upholds company values.

Specific Duties
* Bar Operation and Budgeting
* Performs barista tasks during scheduled shifts (15 - 25 hours per week)
* Ensures clean, attractive, and inviting cafe environment.
* Creates and executes plans to elevate product quality and customer experience, as well as minimize waste and reduce costs.
* Participates in financial goals of the cafe including development and implementation of systems for increasing efficiency and profitability.
* Monitors and manages labor levels to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality or customer experience.
* Maintains vendor relationships and keeps products in stock by ordering products or communicating café inventory needs to the Office Management Team.
* Maintains scheduled preventative maintenance on all equipment, and ensures that all equipment is in proper working order. Troubleshoots small repairs and works with the Retail Director toward a resolution on larger repairs.
* Maintains safe food handling and storage in accordance with Washington State Health Department standards.

Team Development and Education
* Works alongside Human Resources to recruit, hire, and supervise a team of baristas.
* Works closely with the Retail Trainer for initial and ongoing training for the cafe team.
* Demonstrates leadership in coffee preparation, bar management, and hospitality.
* Creates weekly schedules, adjusts hours and shifts as necessary.
* Facilitates communication between cafe team and works any issues towards resolution.
* Maintains complete knowledge of all coffees, natural wines, and retail products and ensures education of the cafe team.
* Develops leadership within the team including hiring and supervision of lead baristas.
* Educates and ensures the cafe team is upholding company procedures and policies, using corrective action as necessary.
* Promotes positive staff morale and relationships with staff members including honoring staff member company anniversaries.## Qualifications Desired Characteristics

* Self-motivated with the ability to manage independently
* Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information
* Basic computer skills and technological troubleshooting
* Ability to manage projects and hold others accountable for job performance
