Job Overview
$21.30 to $22.40 per hour. Earn up to 8% commission on transactions, which can average an additional $2.79 per hour on top of the hourly rate.
Reports to Store Manager.
Position SummaryAn entry‑level sales position in pawn store locations nationwide. The Pawnbroker/Sales Associate partners with the entire staff to ensure customer service on both the lending and retail sides of the business. Greets, engages, and interacts with customers in a positive and professional manner to process sales and loan activities. Thrives on customer engagement, including assisting with inquiries and problem resolution. Associates handle inventory placement and work with all levels of jewelry and general merchandise, as well as all financial solutions offered to the customer base.
GeneralDuties & Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with all customers to develop rapport that facilitates appropriate financial solutions.
- Perform non‑management open/close procedures.
- Keep sales floor clean, stocked, and maintain displays of merchandise.
- Perform sales and loan transactions in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Handle all cash and negotiable items in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Independently receive, evaluate, lift, carry, move, and secure customer merchandise as part of pawn, buy, and retail transactions.
- Answer incoming calls per company standards.
- Effectively communicate to customers the legal aspects of pawn and buy transactions.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and managers, displaying respect and using effective communication tools.
- Partner with all employees to create a positive and memorable customer experience and work environment.
- Successfully complete assigned training.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this role.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 18 years of age (WA only: Minimum 21 years of age).
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Strong desire to work, serve customers, and work with people; team oriented.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations proficiently.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of jewelry and general merchandise preferred.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills including verbal, non‑verbal, and active listening.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.
- Should be able to work in multiple locations, as needed.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays; based on business needs.
- Computer literate and able to operate common office machines.
- Ability to work with firearms as needed.
Primarily indoors. Employees may be asked to assist a customer on the exterior of the building (within parking lots) or to retrieve products stored in exterior storage buildings or other areas.
Work Postures & Physical Demands Work Postures/Requirements- Standing/Walking – Frequently throughout shifts while assisting customers at the sales counter or on the sales floor, and while performing inventory, maintenance, and operational tasks in customer and non‑customer areas.
- Sitting – Occasionally during the shift to complete sales documentation, reporting and other administrative tasks.
- Bending – Frequently, using proper bending and body mechanics while receiving, storing, or selling merchandise.
- Reaching – Frequently to retrieve merchandise from shelves, storage areas, carts, and customers.
- Walking – Frequently within the store as customers are assisted and stock is retrieved.
- Climbing – Frequently to access elevated storage locations, in accordance with safety procedures.
- Kneeling – Occasionally.
Due to the nature of pawn transactions and customer interactions, this position requires the ability to safely lift, carry, and move customer merchandise during the normal course of business. These physical functions, including the above work postures, are essential to the role.…
