Position Overview

As the Assistant Retail Store Manager, Back‑of‑House (BOH) Operations, you support the leadership of a Brooks brand retail store. You partner with the FOH team to deliver a premium service experience, leading the store’s BOH operations, managing inventory, schedules, and seasonal product flips while driving sales through product storytelling.

Your Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Store Manager to:
    • Lead the overall BOH operation to achieve budgeted revenue and profit goals.
    • Drive inventory efficiency and maximize sales by maintaining ideal inventory levels.
    • Manage labor spend through educated scheduling choices.
    • Coach, develop, and manage performance of the store team to provide premium service to all customers.
    • Encourage a culture of excitement about running, storytelling, and supporting a healthy lifestyle.
  • Create store schedules for effective staffing before, during, and after business hours.
  • Monitor store cleaning and operations supplies and place all supply orders.
  • Place inventory orders and partner with the Brooks Distribution Center to manage inventory flow when the Store Manager is on scheduled PTO.
  • Manage receipt and return of all inventory, including regular orders, RMAs, and transfers.
  • Handle back‑end responsibilities for returned unsellable inventory.
  • Lead and organize seasonal product flips with the Store Manager and Visual Merchandising contact.
  • Maintain expert product knowledge and train retail staff.
  • Facilitate quarterly product training for sales associates.
  • Work the sales floor—demonstrate product knowledge, drive sell‑through, and provide service‑oriented storytelling.
  • Provide feedback and analysis to the Store Manager and Retail Operations Manager regularly.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in retail; prior inventory management experience preferred.
  • 1+ year of leadership experience within retail, preferably.
  • Knowledge of retail math, inventory management, turn, gross margin, open‑to‑buy, product merchandising, and retail selling skills.
  • Knowledge of performance athletic footwear, apparel, accessories, and related technologies.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lead independently or alongside the store manager.
  • Demonstrated innovation and initiative, with a willingness to improve processes and dive into details.
  • Ability to anticipate how decisions affect customers, partners, products, or other departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire trust and build effective relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with concise and clear messaging.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to see the big picture.
  • Passionate participation in Brooks’ sports activities is a plus.
  • Highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $23.27 - $32.59 per hour. Base pay offered will vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
