Talent Assessment Scientist (Mid‑Level or Senior)

The Boeing Company’s Global Talent, Development and Employee Experience (GTD&EE) organization has an exciting opportunity for a Talent Assessment Scientist to join the Talent Assessment Science team in either Seattle, WA or Portland, OR.

Role Overview

In this role you will own the end‑to‑end implementation of pre‑hire assessments, from stakeholder needs analysis, through job analysis, to implementation and validation. You will serve as a subject‑matter expert in assessments, supporting business leaders across Boeing with their talent selection needs.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and timelines, manage resource scheduling, and provide regular progress updates on project status.
  • Conduct thorough job analyses, including interviews, observations, and job analysis questionnaire development, as part of larger assessment development and validation projects.
  • Lead and support the development of assessments for various hourly and salaried roles, employing classical test theory (CTT) and item response theory (IRT) methodologies to ensure the quality, validity, and fairness of assessments.
  • Train recruiters and hiring managers on assessments and their use and troubleshoot the assessments and their integrations.
  • Design and implement concurrent and predictive validation studies to evaluate the effectiveness of selection assessments.
  • Prepare technical documentation that meets legal standards and adheres to the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures.
  • Design and lead research projects, such as capturing quality of hire, to enhance hiring practices.
  • Collaborate with the Employee Listening and Organizational Research and Assessment team on research initiatives and data analysis to support data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external vendors providing custom and standard testing or screening solutions.
  • Monitor vendor performance and conduct periodic reviews to ensure high service quality.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, business analysts, legal, and labor relations, to develop robust assessment systems, solutions, and outputs.
  • Provide expert consultation to leadership and management on best practices in talent management, employee selection, and organizational development.
  • Offer insights based on research findings to inform strategic decision‑making.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher.
  • 1+ years of experience in database management, programming, statistical modeling and/or machine learning (SQL, R, Python, JMP, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Industrial‑Organizational Psychology or related field and 7+ years of experience with assessment development.
  • Ph.D. in Industrial‑Organizational Psychology and 4+ years of experience with assessment development.
  • 3+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing pre‑hire assessments from within large organizations.
  • 3+ years of experience communicating technical results to non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience writing technical documentation that aligns with relevant legal and professional standards, including EEOC and OFCCP guidelines.

  • Summary pay range for Level 3: $137,700–$186,300.
  • Summary pay range for Level 4: $173,400–$234,600.
