Director, Supply Chain Asset Protection
The Director, Supply Chain Asset Protection is responsible for leading and managing all Asset Protection strategies and programs across Nordstrom’s Supply Chain, including Distribution and Fulfillment Centers, and the protection of assets to and from location sites. This role ensures the safety and security of company assets, people, and facilities while driving shortage reduction, compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute Asset Protection strategies across all Supply Chain networks, including distribution centers, fulfillment centers, and transportation networks; address shortage reduction, facility security, fraud prevention, investigations, cargo theft, and compliance; align initiatives with Nordstrom’s operational goals and collaborate with Supply Chain and AP leadership for consistency.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee physical security systems, coordinate third‑party security guard services, design and implement security systems for new facilities, upgrade existing sites, conduct facility audits and visits, review findings with leadership, and implement corrective actions.
- Talent Development: Lead talent strategy for Supply Chain AP teams, including recruitment, succession planning, and leadership development; provide coaching and training to AP leaders and facility teams to strengthen investigative and compliance capabilities.
- Investigations & Compliance: Direct internal and external investigations related to theft, fraud, and workplace incidents; ensure proper documentation and case management; maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; partner with law enforcement and government agencies on criminal cases and compliance matters.
- Collaboration & Communication: Build strong partnerships with Operations, HR, Inventory Control, and other cross‑functional teams; maintain open communication channels to share updates on technology improvements, security enhancements, and program changes; navigate the organization to ensure work is resourced and barriers are removed for teams to execute strategic priorities.
- Expertise in physical security systems (alarms, CCTV, card access).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis tools.
- Communicates Effectively: Creates forums for open expression and timely explanation of major initiatives.

- 10+ years progressive experience in Asset Protection, Security, or Law Enforcement.
- 5+ years in multi‑site leadership roles within Supply Chain or Distribution environments.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Strategic, operational, and interpersonal skills demonstrating broad expertise in Asset Protection, multi‑unit management, and internal theft resolution.
- Wicklander/Zulawski Basic Interview Certification.
- Experience with workplace violence prevention and business continuity planning.
- Familiarity with logistics, inventory accuracy, and shortage control programs.
- Previous exception reporting experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Ability to travel 50–75% and a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends.
